Questions to take to a property viewing

By Sherwin Lee · · All guides

A viewing is a chance to connect the project information with your own needs. Bring a short checklist so that you can compare your impressions afterwards.

Clarify what you are viewing.

Ask whether you are seeing a show unit, a completed unit or a representation of a particular layout. Confirm which features relate to the unit you are considering and which are part of the presentation. Photograph or note only what you have permission to record.

Walk through your usual routine.

Imagine arriving home with groceries, preparing a meal, working, hosting a visitor and getting ready in the morning. Consider circulation, storage and how each room connects to the next. Think about the furniture you actually use rather than judging only the staging.

Ask what is included.

Request clarification about the items shown and the items offered with the specific unit. Ask for an itemised written explanation where relevant. Do not assume that furniture, decorative finishes or appliances in a show unit are included.

Understand the surroundings.

Ask about the entrance, access routes and shared facilities that matter to you. If you are unfamiliar with the neighbourhood, allow time to explore outside the viewing appointment. Consider returning at a different time to understand your likely daily experience.

Leave with a list of open questions.

Write down anything that needs follow-up rather than relying on memory. Separate your personal impressions from details still awaiting confirmation.

Afterwards, record what worked well and what did not fit. That feedback can be more useful than simply deciding whether a property looked attractive.
